Headline: Google Struggles to Unseat Amazon as the Web’s Most Popular Mall

Abstract: With this weeks talk about limiting the waste produced by the things we make, and the general idea of the mass production of products that we purchase and use for approximately 6 months and then return to the earth in the form of a landfill; this story struck home as we are not only taking steps farther away from that idealistic goal, it looks to make a profit on it to. Now while that intro may be a little bit extreme I still bring the story of how Google now looks to be the largest online retail mall (having already been where 25% of all web shopping starts) by charging retailers in order to be on the google shopping site, which they say is a way to bring order to a chaotic world of out of date shopping links which will only frustrate their users. But all is not bad for the reatailers of the world, as they also show a threefold increase in the revenue per click for products listed on the Google shopping site.
